    Crabby

I'm turning 23 soon, tomorrow to be exact. Haha.. Previous years haven't been the best to celebrate my big day due to CNY being the main culprit. I still remember my 21st birthday fell on the 3rd day of CNY. So this year I decided to hold a small gathering with close friends. Glad that all of them came, except for DANIEL. If u're reading this, pls go knock yourself in the wall, LOL... To feed my friends, I cooked crabs with some help from Zheng Rong. The crabs must be hating me for being the sacrificial animals in my gathering. Haha~

    Marines

Nice windy Thursday morning I have here. Nothing much to do except watching my Linear Algebra webcast online. But argh, I'm a bit lazy to do that so early in the day. So my mind brought me back to Tuesday during my Game Design lecture. I was talking to this exchange student from the United States, a 21yr old female. It's her first time here in Asia n she's been in Singapore for less than a month. As like most "ang mo", she's pretty spontaneous in class, maybe helped by the fact that my lecturer is oso an ang mo. I'll take a picture of him someday. And we were chatting abt SG n the US. She was surprised i'm turning 23 soon, n so i told her abt the stupid 2yrs i have to waste in THE ARMY.

So i asked her abt the military stuffs in the US, n i was appalled by what she told me. I owas thought those people who join the military in the US are the patriotic people who love their country. But she told me that isn't the main reason for people to join the military. Well, she said those higher ranking soldiers are the patriotic ones but those lower ranking soldiers mainly join the the military for the monetary benefits. In short, the poor join the military in order to get by in life. The military would pay for their education n stuffs cos university fees in the US are extremely expensive. Then she gave me the price of US$20k for 1 year of university education fees. I was like so damn shocked. Compare this to the S$6k i pay per year to NUS, mine is really peanuts.

Sheesh, so I told her even if i'm the poor in the US, I won't want to join the military due to the high tendency of the country going to war. She juz laughed n said not everyone goes to war, but well, if you're a Marine, then you're going to Iraq. Our little chat ended here as the lecturer continued with lesson. I learned something new that day abt the United States, but I could hardly understand what's going on in class on that day. Haha..

    Marines in Iraq

Another matter to note, eBay started this blog thing on the website. I laughed out loud seeing that. Who goes to eBay to read blogs? I thought people only go there to buy stuffs? Anyway, I've been selling on eBay for almost a year now, juz a fun thing i do to earn a little money. Here's the blog link http://blogs.ebay.com.sg/klinsmann85

    Back to School

Sorry for the recent MIA.. It's all due to the Infrared device which refused to work for the past week. Now I've got it sorted out, I can post pictures taken with my phone camera. So yeah, school reopened last Monday n I start my cross-island journey to school everyday again. Boring......

This semester will be better though, cos I'm taking some modules with friends, unlike last sem which I was all alone. Database Systems, Networking, Computer Graphics, Linear Algebra n Game Design. These are the modules titles i'm taking this sem. Sounds interesting? Haha, it's tough like shit i tell u. The only interesting one is Game Design, which i spent a whopping 1250 bid points to get it. At first i thought it'll be a male dominated module, cos it's mostly to do with gaming. But to my horror, the class consists of 75% females. Dead. I dread doing projects with females, n to think i have to do TWO for this module. Argh...

Let's juz hope this semester will pass by fast(13weeks) n smoothly. Then I would have completed my 2nd year in NUS. So looking forward to the 3months break after this study year. Oops, it's only the 2nd week out of 13 weeks of school term n I'm already thinking of holidays!

Heavy rain during the first day of school

    Carpark outside Business school

    The packed shuttle bus

    Linear Algebra lecture

NUS has uniform for their students? No way.. These are JC students in my Linear Algebra module. They're so called the "H3" students. Oh well, they're mostly from the "elite" Raffles JC who has nothing better to do n deemed dat A level Maths is chicken feet to them. Thus they wanna have a shot at university modules. Crazy people

    2nd day of school

U see this guy? I think he's a gay who's stalking me. Why? Cos I've met him 4 times. The first time was during last year end holidays when me n MQ saw him on the train. MQ said he's very handsome n looks like Orlando Bloom! Well, i agree with her.

Then to my astonishment, I saw him at MQ's apartment block a few weeks ago! Gosh, what are the chances of seeing a stranger on the MRT train n he lives juz right in your block??!!

The third time I saw him was during the 1st day of school! I think he's a NUS student. He was at Business canteen eating with his friend

The last time was the 2nd day of school on the MRT train in the above picture. I mean, what the fuck? The train has 6 cabins, n each cabin has 4 rows of seats. Why muz he sit right in front of me, facing me?? From then, i conclude he's gay. I took a few peeks at him n actually saw him looking at me. This Singapore Orlando Bloom is gay

ok enuff of him. This is the Chinese New Year decorations at Tampines Mall. The lantern is HUGE.....

    Yesterday, Monday 21st January

For the first time in my life had I encountered a MRT train service disruption. Well, it wasn't the first time in Singapore history, but it was the first time I was affected. There was no train service from Pasir Ris to Tanah Merah for the damn morning from 5.30am-12.45pm can u believe it? It totally sucks, especially when I had to go to school early in the morning. A short journey on the train takes roughly 3-8minutes for me to get to Tanah Merah station. Ystd took me a long 45minutes. The road was jam packed with cars n makeshift shuttle buses to ferry the people to Tanah Merah station. What rubbish service is this? I bet many people were late for school/work ystd, me included.

    =================================================
"On 21 January 2008, there were no westbound and eastbound train services between Pasir Ris and Tanah Merah MRT stations from the start of train service at 5.28am till 12.45pm.

"The disruption was caused by the breakdown of a maintenance works train which was carrying out works between Tampines and Simei (westbound) MRT stations. There were some damages to the maintenance works train and we are investigating the cause.

"During the delay period, eastbound trains were turned around at Tanah Merah MRT Station. Bus bridging services were activated to ferry passengers between Pasir Ris and Tanah Merah MRT stations.

"The first bus arrived at Pasir Ris MRT Station at 5.38am, and the first bus arrived at Tanah Merah MRT Station at 5.48am. In total, 40 SMRT buses and 30 SBST buses were deployed during the disruption to ferry passengers between Pasir Ris, Tampines, Simei and Tanah Merah MRT stations. "
    =================================================

So after school, I cycled to Pasir Ris n saw the yellow coloured maintenance train parked there. How ironic eh? The maintenance train is supposed to tow the train, but it ended up the other way round.

Greatest Driving Road in the World

When I was watching an episode of BBC's Top Gear show few months back, I was appalled by an episode when the hosts went on search around Europe to find the world's best driving road. The road above in Switzerland was deemed by them as the BEST, and I couldn't agree more. Watching the episode sent goosebumps all over my body. I could almost feel the high altitude in my sofa and my heart skipping a beat as the car descends the great heights of the Alps. Then on last Sunday's newspaper, there was an article about this stretch of road. It says " driving through the Alps is an unmatched experience".

Seriously, if u're a driver, you should drive on this stretch of road b4 u die. I'm tempted, n I've made this my long term goal. I'm going to Switzerland one day and drive through the Alps. Maybe not using the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Lamborghini Gallardo Superlegerra or Porsche GT3 RS as shown in Top Gear, but I want to do it at least once.

    The Golden Path

Hey, for non-TV viewers, please to tune to Channel 8 9pm drama called the Golden Path. This show is making me glued to the TV from 9-10pm every weekday. Gosh, the story slowly unfolds as the years progressed, coupled with a nice soundtrack and great actors/actresses, this drama is one of the better ones produced by Mediacorp in recent years.

I was watching it juz now and the plot juz got fast forwarded to 2002 from the previous 1995. Li Nanxing became an Ah Beng!! Haha, dat's like so funny la.. He's such a lao Ah Beng driving an Ah Beng car called Honda Civic dat's heavily modified with turbo metres and neon lights.

Interior. The car was playing techno music in the show

Our Li Nanxing with the turbo meters

Honda Civic ESI with carbon fibre bonnet.. Buy 4D!!

Not juz turbo meters, it has racing seats too~!

The civic will appear at timing 5min45sec

I wonder how much one like dat cost now, cos this car is definitely more than 15yrs old..

    Misquote?

Dropping further hints on major policy changes, PM Lee said details of schemes to keep Singapore roads free flowing could be out as early as next year as part of the comprehensive Land Transport Review.

"This morning driving out of town I was watching the trains going down into town, along the CTE, every carriage was packed and I think we need to improve the public transport system and we have some ideas what can be done. But at the same time we need to keep the roads free flowing. And there're no easy ways to improve the road traffic it means painful measures like the ERP and COE and we've to do more with them. We're working out schemes and I think they'll be ready to be worked out and start to be implemented early next year in January".

    http://www.938live.sg/ListDetail.aspx?Editorial_ID=24428&SubCategoryID=1&Diff=0&Catgrp=News&Start_Date=20071029

Finally, our dear PM finds out abt how packed our trains can be during peak hours. But don't you think it's a little slow??? If he doesn't know, fine, cos I guess our ministers dun take public transport often. But why there's nobody telling him the problem?? Our minister of transport didn't feedback to him? N oso, which part of CTE was he on in order to see trains?? I've driven on the CTE on a few occasions but I don't remember seeing any trains above ground. This is confusing...
