Saturday, November 29, 2008 Nov 29, 2008 Teen raped at party 19-year-old was so drunk she could do nothing to stop assault By Sujin Thomas A NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD became so drunk at a birthday party in September last year that she could do nothing as she was raped and molested by two party guests. In a district court yesterday, one man pleaded guilty to raping her and the other, to outraging her modesty. To protect her identity, the parties cannot be named. Court documents said she had gone to a party, where she met her boyfriend, who was also invited. Later, the couple joined the host and two of his friends, both 21, for a card game in which the loser of each round had to drink a glass of whisky. The girl, an unseasoned drinker, soon became drunk. At her boyfriend's suggestion, she went to a bedroom to sleep it off. Early the following morning, the host's two friends entered the bedroom and shut the door. One of them first kissed her and molested her as she lay sleeping. The man, who is married with two young children, then took off her underwear and proceeded to rape her. The other man also kissed her and fondled her breasts. Shocked, the girl woke up but was so drunk that she could do little to resist their advances. After a while, the pair left the room and the girl fell asleep again. When she awoke, she burst into tears and told her boyfriend ? who had been in the next room all the time ? what had happened. She was then taken to a hospital for a check-up and a police report was lodged. A day later, the two men met the girl to apologise and plead with her to withdraw her complaint against them. She refused to give them an answer. The men then set up another meeting to persuade her to tell the police that she had consented to their advances. It was the only way to 'settle the matter', one of them told her. The girl's boyfriend tipped off the police to the meeting, and the pair were arrested. They will be sentenced on Dec 3. In a district court, a person convicted of rape faces up to 10 years in jail and either a fine or caning. A person convicted of molestation can be jailed for up to two years and caned. ========================================================= Anyway, more details here. Cars losing the whole front engine compartment, tyres flying everywhere, cars overturned etc etc  This is one of the ways which the TP reminds motorists not to speed. Another way is using speed cameras, and when caught, be prepared to be fined an amount of money plus a few demerit points to your license. Somehow, it doesn't seem to work. Well, I suggest the TP to make use of Denmark's speeding control. I tuned into channel 8 n saw this super old telemovie production by Mediacorp. It was starring Wong Li Lin, Li Nanxing n Joey Swee, the time when Mediacorp still produce pretty good dramas with better actors/actresses. Sometimes, I juz dun understand myself; why couldn't I see things in a different way. I'm like a wood with a fixed point of view. Too rational, too robotic, n love ain't gonna work dat way. I've commited the mistake of loving too much with my brain rather than with my heart. I think I haf to find a balance. Saturday, November 15, 2008 Final Stretch School's over, now it's time for the dreaded exams. 13 weeks simply juz flew by like that. It's time to mug again.  I was reading TODAY's paper the other day when I came across this article. Let's hope I can get a good grade for this module since it's not examinable. My grades will depend on the assignments I've done. This is a 5min drama making use of all that I've learnt in the lectures. After this module, I've discovered dat I haf passion for filming work. I had lots of joy acting, filming, directing, script writing etc etc.. Wednesday, November 12, 2008 Almost Over Finally, this is the last week of school, which also means exams are nearing, with my first paper on next Saturday... Hai.. Good thing is, all projects are done n handed in. I'm only left with the last filming assignment due this Friday!! Filming has been completed n now it's in the post-production stage of the 5minute drama. I had to incorporate what I've learnt in the lectures into the filming of this drama. This has got to be the most interesting/exciting module I've taken ever~!!  Me n MQ went to haf a gd dinner in celebration of the completion of my drama assignment. It was busy, it was sad, it was happy, it was juz abnormal. First comes the bad news. My uncle left the world forever in the early morning of Monday morning. It came as a shock to me, cos the last time I saw him during CNY, he was still nice n healthy. But now, he's gone forever. I've had some memories of him though. When I was a kid, I'll pester him to let me play an ornament which was placed at a very high level cabinet everytime I go to his house during CNY. No matter how many times I asked for it, he'll oblidge n never say no. Of cos, as I grow older, my interaction with him decreased. Mostly it was juz greeting. He had a birthday celebration on National Day, but I didn't go as I went to the Malacca road trip. That was probably gonna be the last time I see him if I went. But it was not meant to be. He got admitted to the hospital for around 2 weeks complaining of discomfort in his abdomen. I didn't go to the hospital though, partly due to my busy schedule, partly due to the fact dat it's not a very serious condition. Never would I expect dat he'll leave us so abruptly juz 2 days after coming out of the hospital. He complained of breathing difficulty in the middle of the night, n he passed away, leaving behind two daughters(my cousins), wife(my aunt) and four grandchildren. Jus when life was starting to be good n comfortable, he left this world. He was only 65yrs old, barely the retirement age set by LEE KUAN YEW. His death makes me feel dat life is quite sad n short. U worked all ur life, then when it's time to take a rest, u're dragged away from this world. I went to the funeral, looked at him lying in the coffin. The dark n oily face of his i usually see was gone. All dat I saw was a face full of cosmetic make up to keep him presentable. He is not talking anymore, not drinking or smoking anymore. He was lying there, waiting to be cremated after 5 days of funeral in the void deck. He's gone for good. I will never see him again. In future family gatherings, he will definitely be missed. Please treasure the ones u love, cos u never noe when they'll leave this world. After the Friday's cremation, we were all tired, but it was my cousin's wedding on Saturday. It was kinda hard to switch feelings within a day. In the noon, I was tearing when I see the coffin go into the burning chamber. In the night, I had to smile n be happy for my cousin's last night as a single when we all go to her house. It was weird in a way I never experienced. Saturday  The roasted pig  Bride came home after goingto groom's house  Relatives  Eating the eggs  Night banquet at Pan Pacific Hotel  Inside  Interaction area  In the ballroom  Me n MQ's wine. I almost got knocked out even b4 the dinner started. All thanks to the powerful red wine n my empty+hungry stomach  Table  Us  Couple's arrival  Cold dish  Sharks' Fins!!!!!  Ah, I Love It  heh  Apprently, not only the red wine can knock me out  Sushi  Mushroom, Abalone, Veg  Back~  Champange  Roasted chicken  Steamed fish  Broccoli in crab roe  Fried Noodles  Yum Seng~  YUM YUM YUM SENG~  Yam Paste for dessert  End of dinner  The wedding cake  --  Roses.... The family retired for the night n marked a week of emotional rollercoaster. But not for my father. His close friend in the Residential Committee suddenly passed away that very night n he received the call from the deceased wife on Sunday morning. He was only 56 n had died of heart failure. How fragile is life?? In a span of less than 7 days, i experienced two deaths n a wedding. |
