Saw this quote on a fren's blog. Kinda sadistic...

To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to be sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one - not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safely in the casket or the coffin of your selfishness. But, in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, unredeemable. The only place outside heaven where you can be safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love, is hell.
    -The Four Loves, C.S Lewis

The day spent in camp was short but busy. Half of my platoon wasn’t around. Nothing much to do today except for the normal shit work. I was sleeping so soundly on my bed when we were all called down to soak our No.4 uniforms. If u wonder what is it, it’s a way by the SAF to lessen the dengue cases occurring in army camps. We have to soak our uniform in a special solution which acts like an insect repellent. It can withstand 4 washes before wearing out. Just when I thought I could go back to my sleep after the soaking, I was being assigned with Kok Boon to go help do some armskote work. Kaoz.. Never ending work. I had to re-pack all the rifle cleaning kit accessories, all 60 of them. Took a total of 2hrs plus to finish the job. Hate those reservist men. Whenever they come back for ICT(in-camp-training), they’ll leave a whole lot of shit for me to clean up. The last batch that came in took my rifle for a live firing range, dirtying my wife. Thank god my company had already passed down the M16 rifle to the new company this time round, or else I will have to clean the rifle again.

Read the papers this morning. A horrific car accident happened at Upper Paya Lebar Rd 2 days ago. A Mazda MX5 Miata hit the road divider; overturned n flew to the other side of the road. It crashed into a black BMW n a van while it was flipping in the air. Miraculously, the driver survived, but the passenger died. The casualty is a 22yr old young lady. She’s the salesperson for Mazda Motors n was test driving the car with her last customer of the day when the accident happened. They were barely 5min into the test drive when tragedy struck. Hai.. Such a pity to die so young. Had she left the showroom earlier, she wouldn’t have died. She was actually in a rush to attend a wedding dinner with her bf that evening n was quite reluctant to test drive the car. She nv made it to the dinner with her bf. She’s the only child in the family. One life lost, but the devastation surrounds everyone that’s related to her.

Hai.. It’s heart wrenching to read such a report on the papers. I guess rear wheel drive cars are very difficult to control. The Mazda MX5 Miata is capable of reaching a top speed of 191km/h. Seen the movie Initial-D? the reason why the Toyota Trueno AE86 that Jay Chou drove can drift so easily is becos the car is rear wheel driven. U can nv see the Nissan Skyline GTR that Shawn Yue drove drift so easily cos its body kits are too heavy n the car body too long. The Mazda Miata is so small n light, it’s no surprised it flipped in the air so many times after hitting the road divider.

3 days off at home. May be meeting Zheng Rong n Daniel to do some catching up. Zr just came back from Thailand last week. Poor guy, always have to go for overseas training. Ha, who ask him to be a commando officer?

Alright, to my platoon sergeant, my platoon mate Dharmy n all the Hindus in the world, Happy Deepvali~!

Did absolutely nothing today. Was lying on my bed for 80% of the day, either watching tv or reading. Dunno why, simply felt lethargic for the whole day. Not enough sleep? Nah… I slept at 12 last night n woke up at 11.30 this morning. 11.5hrs of sleep, surely it’s more than enough, but I juz couldn’t gather sufficient strength to get out of bed. Hope I didn’t over drug myself with the flu medicine. Ha, if Singapore is an avian flu hotspot, I guess I’ll be the 1st to contract the H5N1 virus since I’m so prone to the flu virus.

Monday again, book in time. It’s ok, it’ll be a short week for me. Holiday season for the Hindus n Muslims. I’ll be in camp for only 1.5 days this week. Last day of October, November next. I’m another month closer to ORD. I can feel it coming…

Finished an issue of BusinessWeek. In China, MNCs are competing with local companies for a more discerning Chinese consumer. Singapores very own Osim Co. is buying over Broostone Inc. for US$445m in order to break into the huge US massaging chair market. Apples iPod Nano is using Samsungs NAND flash-memory as its storage. Sales of these Nand flash-memory chips have quadruplet in recent yrs from US$2.3b in 2002 to a projected US$10.1b this yr n more is expected in coming yrs. In Germany, Mercedes Car Group is planning to cut 8500 jobs which stunned its employees. The German car manufacturer is undergoing a massive makeover to better compete with BMW n other luxurious car manufacturers.

In Russia, rising living standards, a patriotic mood, n savvier filmmaking sparked a revival in the movie making industry in the country. The DVD format war continues. With Bill Gates of Microsoft supporting the HD-DVD format, Howard Stringer of Sony Corp. is unfazed that its Blu-Ray DVD format will win the battle in the end. In the IT world, Google Inc n Sun Mircrosystems is setting up an alliance that could one day loosen Microsofts hold on the PC industry. In the US, small sized cars have suddenly become more popular. The main reasons are small seemed to be the more beautiful design right now n it saves a lot on fuel. In the midst of high fuel prices, a smaller car is the better choice.

My Liverpool finally won a game with a 2-goal margin for the 1st time this season. They won 2-0 against newly promoted West Ham United, maintaining the 42-yr unbeaten record against the Hammers at Anfield. Xabi Alonso scored with a sweet sweet strike in the 18th minute n Bolo Zenden got his 1st goal in a Liverpool red shirt in the 82nd minute. A better performance this time round by The Reds but the impotent strike force is still showing in last night's game. Hai.. Morientes-6.3m pounds, Cisse-14m pounds n Crouch-7m pounds. 27.3m pounds worth of strikers but none of them scored last night. I'm thoroughly disappointed. Hope they hit the net in the next coming match in the Champions' League against Anderlecht at Anfield.

Arsenal drew 1-1 with Tottenham in the North London derby. I thought Spurs might finally beat the Gunners but for a 2nd consecutive match, Paul Robinson blundered n gifted Robert Pires with the equalising goal for Arsenal. The Gunners looked toothless in attack too without their captain Thierry Henry who's out due to injury.

Chelsea, as usual, blew their opponents away last night at Stamford Bridge with a 4-2 win against Blackburn Rovers. Lampard bagged a brace while Drogba n Joe Cole added onto the scoreline with their strikes. Craig Bellamy's double strike did little to help Blackburn. I hate the sight of Mourinho showing that kind of "I'm the Special One" look after the victory.

In ystd's last match, Manchester United crashed to a 4-1 defeat at the Riverside stadium against Middlesbrough. I was shocked by the scoreline when i woke up this morning. What's wrong with United? To Samuel, Burt n Wai Loong, i pity u guys. My Liverpool may have lost 4-1 to Chelsea 2 weeks ago, but the defeat was against the English Champion. Man Utd? They lost to Boro with the same scoreline. So, which defeat is more humiliating? I'm not gonna taunt u guys tmr when we're back in camp. I know how it feels when ur team lose 4-1 n get taunted. There's such a thing called retribution after all.

Did I do the right thing? Am I regretting? Ah crap, I dunno what I’m thinking now. She refused to stop harassing me in my mind today. So much so that I have to sleep the whole day to shut her out of my mind. I msg her asking about the result of the blood test. She didn’t reply of cos. Guess she hates me now for what I did. I kind of expected this to happen. Things have turned sour. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. She can forget about me much more easily if she hates me. Hopefully, she’ll stop hurting other people like what she’s doing now.

Hai.. Ok, life has to go on. Liverpool vs West Ham @ Anfield now.

Didn’t blog ystd, was running a temperature after coming back home from Mt. Faber. I was too sick to run, so I juz went there to make up numbers. Had wanted to see a doc to get a mc but was too lazy. The terrain on the mountain wasn’t an easy one to run on. Quite a few people fell due to the steep slopes. It was a short run, I think even shorter than 4km as the actual run ended within 20min.

I came home only to find out that my body temperature was measuring 38.2 degree Celsius. Must have been the erratic weather. The sun was scorching when I leave house but it was raining like cats n dogs when I got home. Not surprising la. My body has the knack of turning flu into fever very easily, so it was kind of expected. So I took my medication n slept early last night. I’m feeling much better now.

I dunno if I did the right thing. I was meant to go all the way to number 10, but I decided to stop at number 6. It’s a tough decision to make, but I know sometimes in life u have to bite the bullet. Many things changed 174 days after we broke up. I see some good things n some bad things that are happening to her right now. As usual, tears acted as the backdrop of our conversation on the void deck. I really wish she can come back to me again in the end. However, on seeing what she had done in the 174 days I wasn’t with her, I started to freak out. All of a sudden, I’m so afraid of her that I dunno if I can still accept her as my gf again. Fine, u can say I have no balls, but I hate getting my heart shattered again.

Sometimes I wonder why things can’t be much simpler. I dunno if I should end this chapter of my life. I still love her, I can still feel the sparks n my heart raced when I see her, but what she’s doing is freaking me out.

Hai, juz take a step at a time la. Hope her blood test is dengue negative.
