    Too much

Had a freaking tiring day. I only truly slept well after 7am this morning. Was at my cousin's house, waiting to pick mum up from her mahjong game. I was there at 12am, n I watched the match between Blackburn & Aston Villa till I fell asleep. I was drifting in n out of sleep till 6am due to the noisy mahjong tiles. I had to turn up the volume of my car stereo in order to keep myself awake while driving home. When I was home, I collapsed onto my bed n slept till 10am.

Enough sleep? NEVER!! My little nephew, Edmund, has been running a high fever for the past 4 days n was admitted into the hospital ystd. My cousin called mum n asked her a favour-taking something from the temple. She was so worried about Edmund that she cried on the phone. So yeah, I had no choice but to wake up n drive to the temple. Had breakfast at Bedok 85 n off we went to KK Hospital after finishing our meal. Hit the ECP, drove past Suntec City, Bugis Junction n Sim Lim Square, my very first time driving into the city area. Lucky I didn't lose my way n reached KKH promptly.

Edmund looks alright when we got there. His fever has gone down from 40.5 degrees to 37.9 degrees n his blood test didn't show any abnormality. If all goes well, he may be discharge by tomorrow.

Being a huge kid lover myself, I hate to go to KKH cos it's the hospital specialized in treating children n women. I was born there 21yrs ago, not the exact building, but the older one. It hurts to see kids falling sick n lying on the beds looking exhausted n lifeless. I love to see them playing n running around, showing the huge megawatt smiles on their faces, not crying in pain or swallowing the bitter liquid medicine. I saw a little girl with a fractured wrist crying very badly n a little boy suffering from the torture of the phlegm sucking machine being inserted into his throat. I can't bear the sight of that.

I once had a very very very close cousin. Both of us are good buddies as we're both boys n of the same age. I don't have any cousin of my age group; most of them are already in their 30s now. Me n my cousin would always play together when I go to my aunt's house. Then, he fell sick when he was 6yrs old. I was too young to know the details that time, but I know he was suffering from a very bad fever. My very last memory of him when he was alive was vague. When he was sick, mum suddenly brought me to my aunt's house one night. I saw him sitting on the sofa, looking tired n very ill. I didn't know anything then n even pulled his arm n asked him to go play with me. He seemed uninterested n didn't reply anything. Mum asked me to leave him alone immediately.

I can still remember that particular day was a rainy day. It rained the whole day n the sky was dark through out. He was juz sitting at one corner of the sofa in the darkness. I have no idea how much he was suffering. Then, the next thing I know, he had left this world. I was shocked, but still couldn't fully understand the meaning of death. There wasn't any funeral n he is being buried at Lim Chu Kang Cemetery. I have never visited his tomb after his death. Mum didn't allow me to. When my aunt sees me today, I can see the sadness in her eyes. If he's still alive, he would be 21yrs old like me now. We would have been great buddies n doing a lot of things together. When she looks at me, she will think of my dead cousin.

So ya, I was quite worried when I heard about Edmund's condition. Nobody wants history to repeat itself. My cousin died cos he seek treatment too late n the virus had spread to his lungs, killing him eventually. Imagine how relieved I felt when I saw Edmund moving around the bed when I got there. He even asked mum to buy him fishball noodles through the phone. How cute right? He's only 5yrs old by the way. I treat all my nephews like my son. It doesn't feel good to see anyone of them sick. When I was leaving, I really felt like hugging him. Haha.. I didn't, cos he was almost closing his eyes after taking his medication.

Drove to Ikea after that. Had trouble finding the right route initially but the road signs helped a lot. I went past Orchard Road, the busy shopping district. Felt so cool when the girls look at u when u're driving a car. Haha.. When I reached Ikea at Alexandra Road, the queue leading to the carpark was so long, it took me 20min to get into it. My first time in a shopping centre's carpark, n oh my, how narrow the road is. I was so afraid that I would scratch my Sunny. Finding a space for my car was so hard cos there were a lot of vehicles.

Walked around the huge Ikea store n bought some chairs n stuff. It's holding a sale n the furniture are pretty cheap. The store was so crowded, mum got irritated n said she won't ever come again during a sale. Hahaha.. See, she was kinda stressed when she saw the huge number of cars around n I had to drive my way through them. Perhaps she still don't trust my driving.

Went HabourFront for an early dinner in the evening n then went to fetch dad back from his workplace at Jurong. He took over the wheels from there on. I was in need of a rest after driving so much for the day. Too much I think. My brain n eyes needed a rest.

But then, we switched over after stopping over at my cousin's house in Tampines. There, I drove home, with him beside me. It's the very 1st time he tried my driving even though I have already been driving for a month.

"Release the clutch slowly!", "Slow on the hump!" Those were what he said to me when I was driving. Glad that I don't have to drive under him all the time. Haha!! When we were home, it was already 6pm. I'm so tired now. Need to sleep early. Going back camp tomorrow to sign my ORD clearance form. Three more days to go......
