Thursday, April 22, 2010 Corolla AE101 I was browsing thru sgcarmart the other night, surveying the current 2nd hand car prices in the wake of the crazy COE prices. Then I came across this 1993 Corolla. I still rmb my principal in primary school drives this exact same model n colour. I was owas in awe when I watch on, as he drives it slowly into the school compound with his eyes scanning every inch of wad's happening around him. He's a well respected man, n his mere presence is enuff to scare every student n shut all of us up. He's a man I look up to, wanting to be like him one day; take care of the whole school, every student, every teacher, every employer. A man with control, with respect n with charisma. So it's kinda inevitable dat I tell myself i wanna drive dat same car, hey, i was juz a little kid with a simple mind. Which is why when i see the ad stating dat it will be scrapped by end April if no buyer is found, i haf this sad n pity feel within me. It's actually a real proper car with Toyota's well known engine reliability. The dealer probably is not gonna the renew the road tax($1104) which ends after April n will scrap it to recoup the remaining COE value which is $2460. Too bad I'm a poor student, or I might juz bargain it to $3000 n buy it over to live my childhood fantasy, IF the car is in good condition. U noe, 2nd hand cars can look nice outside but is terrible on the inside. With proper grooming n some worn out parts replacement, it can actually be a very nice car to drive, cos I've sat in one b4. New cars nowadays haf all the luxuries, those little gimmicks n all, but it is old cars like this dat can last the distance. They haf very little electronics which are very prone to malfunctioning. I dunno, I juz feel dat older cars haf more character than those produced today. With some minor aesthetic modification, it can look real good like the one above. |
