    Rocky Series

Tell me, which series today is able to last 30 years? I was watching Rocky Balboa a month back, a film which was be ridiculed by many when Sylvester Stallone wanted to film it. I was shocked too, wondering what has he got to offer at a grandpa age of 60?

Nevertheless, I waited for it to be screened in the cinemas and it was finally released in December last year in the US. Of cos, films by Stallone is something that I'll never miss, let alone Rocky VI, being said to be the last part of the story. I was curious as to what will be the storyline like.

"Rocky I" was first shown in 1976, the period of time when the US was defeated by Vietnam in the Vietnam War. Americans were at an all down period of time, and they needed someone to lift them up. Then in comes Rocky. He was such an inspiration to many Americans at that time, if u dun believe me, go grab a copy of Rocky I DVD n watch it. The film, made for only US$1.2 million, and shot relatively fast in 28 days, was a sleeper hit; it made over US$117.2 million, won three Oscars, including Best Picture, and garnered mostly positive reviews which helped to launch Stallone's career. That was the start of the whole series that will eventually last 30years.

Not only that, as Rocky series was filmed in Philadelphia, Stallone immensely popularised the Philadelphia Museum of Art by showing his run ups of the steps during his training montages in the films. Till today, many people still reminisce Rocky's training runs, ending off withing a raise of arms in sign of victory at the top of the steps. I hope I can do that too sometime in the future.

Below are the videos of his training montages throughout the series. I must say Stallone does love to push this body to the limits and he sure has an amazing physical ability. That's something I would love to learn from him. When my exams finally ends next week, it'll be the time to rebuild my worn out physical shape. Enjoy the videos..

    ROCKY I (1976) AGE 30

    ROCKY II (1979) AGE 33

    ROCKY III (1982) AGE 36

    ROCKY IV (1985) AGE 39

ROCKY V (1990) AGE 44 (No training montage, cos he retired due to medical reasons)

ROCKY VI (2006) AGE 60 (An amazing 60yr old man)

    MSU 2007

Miss Singapore Universe 2007, Jessica Tan, 24 year old flight stewardess will be representing Singapore at the Miss Universe Pageant held in Mexico in May. She was also crowned Miss Body Beautiful.

Congratulations to her, she brought home $25,000 cash as a wonderful birthday present!

Hmm... SIA Singapore Girl won this year... Gives me another reason to sign up for pilot. Haha, juz joking... I still think Jaime Teo(MSU 2001) is the best ever.. And body beautiful? Heh, Carol Cheong(MSU 2006) last year beats everyone hands down

Carol Cheong.. I feel heavy for her

    My favourite MSU: Jaime Teo

Why? Because Jaime Teo is the only MSU that remains in the limelight after sooooo long, unlike other MSU who simply went missing after appearing one yr after they won the crown to pass on to the next winner. Nuraliza Osman(2002)?? Bernice Wong(2003)?? Sandy Chua(2004)?? Cheryl Tay(2005)??

Visit http://jaimeteo.com to know more about this multi-talented girl.. Oh btw, she has a Bachelor of Computing from Monash University... Haha, some common grounds with me eh? It can help alot with a girl of her "calibre" in NUS School of Computing

    School Ends

How time flies eh? Today is the last day of school. The reading week will start and exams will commence after that. It was another hectic 4 months in school, and I'm glad this is ending soon. I have a better confidence this time round as I am much more familiar with how the system works, which aided me in my style of studying.

Year One in SoC is coming to an end. I can't believe how fast this is....

On my previous entry, No, I'm not suffering or what so ever. I'm loving my life btw. That paragraph was written by someone else. I wrote the "poem". It is directed at someone I know. People close to me should know who i'm refering to, someone close to me for two years, but not anymore. Enough said

    Lesson

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

i realised that i wasnt alone when i felt depressed & weak, for somewhere in this world i prayed that someone shared my sorrows too. it turned out that she was much closer to home than i expected. it seems that she suffers too, much of it in silence & in a corner as well. she too, feels the same way as me. she feels the same way, towards the same significant figure & found the pride in herself never to want to show love towards that person again. she feels the hurt too, & the stress. the stress of completing ur education with above average grades & still feel misunderstood by others.

& all those emotions, i felt, thru a single email. & suddenly it hit me, that if i were to seek help, she would have to seek that help too.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    Mistakes we made.
    None to blame.
    I chose the better times
    You chose otherwise.

    If i have the chance
    I say Thank You
    For the loss of u
    I found a gem

    Academics stumbled
    It ain't the end
    Get up & carry on
    Towards the future u crave

    In silence & corner
    You chose to hide
    All the help u had
    You stubbornly reject

    Misunderstandings galore
    Reflect your deeds
    It's not what's underneath
    But what you do
    That people judge you on

    In pride u take
    For hating me
    For every hurt u felt
    It was same for me

    2 years had passed
    Let go I've done
    I hope u're well

    Playstation 3

While looking for materials for my presentation next week on Microelectronics Evolution, I "unearthed" some pretty cool videos of the newest game console Playstation 3. I was amazed by the complexity of this new machine n a check on Wikipedia, I found out how powerful this console actually is.

It runs on a 3.2Ghz Cell Broadband Engine with EIGHT microprocessors running in parallel, coupled with Nvidia's RSX 'Reality Synthesizer' GPU of an integration level of 300Million transistors, including an incredible 256MB of GDDR3 VRAM running at 650Mhz. This is absolute breathtaking. It has so much processing power, it even puts my desktop to shame. No wonder it costs so much. Now i hope this video can help me create a better first impression so as to capture my audiences' attention in my presentation..
