Wednesday, July 12, 2006 Headbutt As of today, I'm in debt, S$20k+ to be exact. That's the cost of University education here for a course spanning 4years. There's no way I can find such money except loaning it from the bank. The money gave me even more motivation to study hard n achieve an Honours after 4yrs of slogging. I'm afraid of cos. The stress, the unfamiliar system in NUS, the unknowns n the ever so fierce competition. Everyone is killing each other in this world to outdo one another. Can I survive? We'll see. MQ has been sick this week n hadn't gone to work for 3 days. Hai.. my poor girl.. Greatest headline of the recent World Cup turns out to be Zidane's headbutt on Metarrazi. Everyone is wondering what did the Italian say to provoke the Frenchman n cause him to react in such a shocking way. Some suggested "Dirty Terrorist" or remarks insulting his mother or sister. Many call him a disgrace, a let down or what so ever. I say, forget the headbutt n look on the great things he had done throughout his career. Why focus on only this little incident n forget about how he became a legend in the footballing world? Has anyone forgotten how he played a big part in France's victory in 1998? How about the fabulous volley that won Real Madrid the UEFA Champions League in 2001? Let's not forget that France managed to come this far in this tournament because of him. His experience brought Les Bleus past Spain, his inch perfect freekick brought reigning world champions Brazil to their knees, n his nerves during a penalty shot ultimately kicked Portugal out of the competition in the semi-finals. Why can't people see thses things instead of the headbutt? Stop blaming him please... The Infamous Headbutt Look at it on another angle. Metarrazi simply can't keep his mouth shut Italy's World Cup ended up in a heartbreak back in 2002 when they lost to a golden goal by Korea's Ahn Jung Hwan However, they can only bring smiles n tears of joyto every Italian this year |
