Still remember that aviation dream I mentioned in my July blogpost? I'm now on the route to realising it. Perhaps it's 3rd time lucky, i made it past the final panel interview with an airline n has been accepted into their cadet programme. It is the 3rd airline i tried for. Everything went so fast it was quite unbelievable. I didn't have much time to settle the mind n let the acceptance sink in. The computer assessment was in late August n after two rounds of interview, i received a call in end Sept telling me I've been accepted, with the course starting in end October. I could hardly breathe. 60 people vying for 15 slots n I was lucky enuff to get in. Needless to say, the time has come to pursue this little dream of mine. I resigned from my previous job, which wasn't as easy as I always thought, due to the fantastic people i was working with. I was actually quite sad leaving them. I was very comfortable with the place n with the work, which made it even harder. However, I knew it's a chance I cannot give a miss. Who would??!! Yeah so now I've already started ground school n exercising my brains with the books again, more than 2yrs after leaving NUS. The course will take 18months to complete. It won't be easy, it will definitely be tough. 6months of ground school with a heavy syllabus, 5months of flight school in Australia, ending with another 6 months of simulator. It's a long road ahead, one which I'm immensely excited about. When I don that uniform, it makes me feel so different. The stares i get from the public when I travel to class, though quite uncomfortable, is something I can live with. Right now I'm keeping focus n my fingers crossed. Hoping everything will go smoothly in ground school. |
