Sunday, March 15, 2009 Manchester United 1-4 Liverpool What a fantastic week for me as a Liverpool fan. 4-0 win against Spanish champions in midweek, n another 4-1 thrashing of the English champions last night. Thrashing the Red Devils 4-1 in their own backyard is something I've never seen my whole life. After all, the last time such a thrashing happened was in 1935 when the scoreline was 5-2 to Liverpool. Sadly, I was so busy with work I couldn't watch the match at all. All I could do was to listen to the commentary while rushing my work. When Ronaldo scored from the spot on the 24th minute, I tot it's all over, for games like this, the first to score will owas haf the upper hand. What surprised me was how fast Liverpool bounced back 5minutes later with an uncharacteristic mistake from Vidic. Torres capitalised on that n scored with a world class finish, something that I haf not seen since the days Fowler n Owen were the strikers of Pool. 1-1 the score, n Vidic never really recovered from dat. Amazingly, a minute b4 half time, Liverpool went ahead, thanks to a mistimed tackle by Evra on Gerrard. Torres n Gerrard were combining well once again to great effect. Up stood Gerrard n slotted the ball past Van Der Sar, whose last match to concede more than a goal was dunno how many months ago. Man Utd came roaring out in the 2nd half with numerous close chances but never really threatened the Liverpool goal. In a last ditch effort to salvage the game by Alex Ferguson, he brought in 3 substitutes at one shot - Scholes, Giggs n Berbatov. But then nightmare struck them. Barely 2 minutes after the subs came in, Vidic was sent off for a foul on Gerrard. Man Utd is now left with an immensely unbalanced team with too many attackers. The last time i saw such a crazy substitution was when Mourinho did it with Lampard, Duff n Drogba, but at least he succeeded in winning a losing match. Juz when Vidic was heading down the tunnel for his red card, Aurelio curled in a superb free kick to kill off any chance of a Man Utd fight back. To add salt to injury, Dosenna scored a fantastic lob against Van Der Sar in the final minute, whom I think has never conceded 4 goals in a match for Man Utd. Dosenna, the terrible left back, has now scored 2 goals in 2 matches. Maybe Rafa shd employ him as a third striker rather than a left back, where he never seem to do a good job. Fabio Aurelio? -Free agent Van Der Sar? -2 miliion pounds Fernando Torres? -24 million pounds The look on Rooney's face after the match? -fucking priceless Man Utd took a 1-0 lead through Ronaldo's penalty after a foul by Reina on Park Ji Sung Torres levelled the scoreline after a Vidic error Evra's late tackle felled Gerrard Van Der Sat could do nothing abt Gerrard's decisive penalty Gerrard's one of a kind celebration after his goal Vidic getting his marching orders An ecstatic Aurelio after scoring from the resulting freekick Dosenna(right) after scoring his fantastic lob goal Highlights of the match. I can watch this hundreds of times n not get tired of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDDBtnJF8RA |
