Monday, September 29, 2008 Irony Yep, the first night race in Formula One history is over. And like the last sentence of my previous post, Welcome to Singapore Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard finally won a grand prix after one yr. Surely he's over the moon, considering he started on grid 15 after a dismay qualifying on Saturday. Being a Ferrari fan myself, I lost all motivation to carry on watching the race when Felipe Massa met with a pit lane incident which immediately signals the end of the race for him. The front runner of Massa n Kubica ended up as back markers after the crash of Piquet from the Renault team. It created so much chaos dat even Rosberg n Kubica were slapped with 10s stop-go penalty due to their entrance into the pit lane while it was closed. But I haf to say Renault, especially Alonso, had all the luck last night. After the crash from their another driver, it became a blessing in disguise n the blessing all went to Alonso. If not for Piquet's crash, there's no little chance Alonso can win the race wif so much ease. Renault team boss anticipated the appearance of the safety car n asked Alonso to pit very early in the race. N he was spot on. Dat early pit stop is the winning point for Alonso. With 5 laps to go in the race, Ferrari's another driver Kimi Raikonnen made a mistake n crashed out. It's really poor concentration from the world champion and the Ferrari team finished the Singapore GP with zero points. As a result, they lost the lead of the Constructor's Championship to McLaren Mercedes. Had Kimmi finished the race in 5th, Ferrari would haf retained the lead. I had thought it wasn't possible to finish all the laps when the safety car came out twice into the track. In the end, 3 different cars finished on the podium. 1st - Fernando Alonso (Renault) 2nd - Nico Rosberg (Williams-Toyota) 3rd - Lewis Hamilton (McLaren Mercedes) I must say the best driver of the night has to be Nico Rosberg. Currently having a poor season by his standards, he managed to finish 2nd even with a 10seconds stop-go penalty. Dat is quite remarkable. N it was only his 2nd podium finish this season, his first coming from the first race of the season back in March at Melbourne when he finished 3rd. How ironic isn't it? Alonso started at 15th but finished 1st. Massa started at 1st but finished 13th. Ferrari muz be damn disappointed with wad happened ystd. Congrats to Fernando Alonso after his best finish of the season. Video below is the prize presentation ceremony. Juz in case u dunno, Renault's team boss in the video is Flavio Briatore. He was the guy dat steered Michael Schumacher to 2 F1 champion title during the days at Benneton in 1994 n 1995, n also 2 F1 champion title for Fernando Alonso back in 2005 n 2006. But i dislike him, cos he dumped my favourite model, Heidi Klum, when she was pregnant with his child back in 2004. Seriously, with his crappy looks, n he's still able to hook up with someone like Heidi, I'm utterly jealous. He's now 7 points behind the Briton. Even if Hamilton finishes 1 position behind him in the remaining races, he will still win Massa. I keep my fingers crossed though. I hope Hamilton will lose the lead again like how he did so spectacularly last season. Friday, September 26, 2008 Singapore Grand Prix Finally, after more a year long wait, the Singapore GP has kickstarted. I couldn't believe I was actually watching F1 cars on Singapore roads on my TV. I see the bus lane, the yellow box but I didn't see any ERP gantry. It's kinda unreal but it really is Singapore. Eventhough it's a night race, I don't see it affecting the drivers significantly. However, what was promised beforehand didn't happen-showing Singapore's landmark to the world. C'mon, other than the track, I could see no other shit dat's beside the track. All I saw were the underside of the Benjamin Sheares' Bridge, the Singapore Flyer and some black water(Marina Bay Reservoir). I bet the view would have been better had it been in the day, juz like Monaco where I can see bikini clad girls sun tanning on the roof of apartments alongside the track as well as on the deck of luxurious yachts docked on the waters beside the track. Singapore GP, I see juz the track lined up by fences n 1600 high lux lamps. By the looks for the 1hr practise, the track can be quite tricky at some corners. Of cos, being a street circuit, the track is definitely narrower, with the drivers juz inches away from the concrete wall at some part of the race. There's no room for mistakes, no room for 2nd chance. Once u scrap or hit the wall, u're as good as out of the race. Therefore, it demands maximum concentration, made even more crucial with the number of turns being the highest of all tracks, 23 of them. here in Singapore GP. I saw some mistakes n some minor mishaps in the practise session, but I say it's better to make the mistakes now than to make it during the race. Lewis Hamilton set the pace early in the session, but Felipe Massa broke his timing with 3/4 of the session gone. Lewis wasn't happy with dat n came out of the pits n try to set another fastest lap timing. He succeeded n everyone thought dat is it. To my astonishment, Fernando Alonso in the Renault broke Lewis' timing n set the fastest lap timing of the night with less than a minute left. Simply amazing performance from the former 2 time world champion. Welcome to Singapore Fernando Alonso. Well, if u dun, pls pick up the newspaper n read the article, cos u're seriously living in ur own hole. Up till today, 4 infants had died from consuming the contaminated milk power. The main culprit is an organic compound called Melamine(see chemical structure below). It is actually added to the milk power to boost it's protein value due t its 66% nitrogen content by mass. I dunno why China people like to do such stuffs w/o considering the consequences.  I shudder upon seeing this structure. It's no wonder it has created trouble when ingested. From wikipedia, looking at the way Melamine is produced by industry manufacturers makes me even sicker.. Quote: Melamine was first synthesized by Liebig in 1834. In early production, first Calcium Cyanamide is converted into dicyandiamide, then heated above its melting temperature to produce melamine. However, today most industrial manufacturers use urea in the following reaction to produce melamine
UREA, a compound dat is toxic in our body, the very main toxic substance dat is being expelled through our urine. It is no wonder dat the babies suffered from renal failure n kidney stones. Monday, September 22, 2008 23 It was MQ's 23rd birthday last Saturday.. Time flies, n I'm turning 24 in 4 months' time..  I surprised her with a cake at 12am  Lighted candle  Yummy  I got myself a new sound card in the morning of Saturday.. Sound is a very important factor to me.. Onboard sound is totally hopeless..  Nice packaging  The X-fi chip...  Removed my old soundcard bought in 2003  When old meets the new  I got a subwoofer too, but dat's for the living room's theatre.. Now, there's more oomph while watching movies.. Gonna rock my whole block  Afternoon, car washing..  Wad u looking at?  Wash wash wash  More wash  Where's the polish?  Evening time, went for dinner~  Do u noe where is this?  Habourfront City  We went for dinner at Vivocity after walking around for 30min with our seriously starved stomachs.. In the end, settle for some special version of Crystal Jade restaurant..  Menu.. With the special name, comes special prices...  Waiting for my food... I was hoping some F1 talent scouts was on the road..  Friday, September 19, 2008 School's Out 6 weeks flew past juz like dat, n next week is the one-week midterm break. Nothing much to do during the break, except to study for one test, do TWO projects, complete one filming assignment n finally, train for my IPPT. Next week will also be Singapore Grand Prix week, held over the weekend at the Marina City area. It's gonne be Formula One's first ever night race in history. I tried the route last week, n my Nissan Sunny felt so small on the large n wide road, surfaced by superior tarmac. Acceleration was a breeze and cabin noise was minimal. To my delight, a while Nissan GT-R appeared beside me while i was enjoying myself. Then, I decided to be naughty n try to keep up with dat GT-R. Well, no prizes for guessing wad's the outcome. I was smoked of cos. It can get from 0-100kmh in 3.5seconds, mine take almost 3 times the timing at 10.5seconds. But it was one hell of a kind experience trying to follow it.  This is the GT-R.. She's smokin hot.......... With all the hype about F1, I've oso heard some really hilarious comments from people who probably know nothing much abt F1. Incident 1: Group of teens at the bus-stop, with Lewis Hamilton's Nescafe advertisement poster nearby Teen 1: Eh, who is this person ar? Why see him everywhere? Teen 2: He's Lewis Hamilton lor.. He very zai(steady) one.. Drives the Formula One car n he's the champion leh, dat's why everywhere got him lor.. Errr..... Since when Lewis is champion??? He never was, losing out to Kimi Raikonnen in the last race last season.. Stupid cock, dunno dun act noe. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Incident 2: I was queueing up posting some stuffs at Singpost. The queue was damn long so I juz grabbed one of the brochure abt the F1 track. Then this girl in her early 20s oso go take one and say this to the boyfriend Boy: Wad u take? Girl: Brochure abt F1.. Neh, u see, the cars will start here, this is the start/stop point near the grids.. This is the pits, this is where they change tyres and change car.. Errr.. I dunno wad she meant, but during a pit stop, the driver is not allowed to change car. The boyfriend oso blur blur n get smoked by her..  The Ferrari F1 model at Parkway Parade  I never tot I wud come this close to Michael Schumacher  Check this out.. They actually kept the tyre!!  Nice.. Can I bring this home??
