Wednesday, April 05, 2006 Rain, Rain & Rain It was whole lot of drama during this morning's(Singapore Time) Champions' League matches. Ok, let's talk about 6 time winners AC Milan. The Italian team didn't produce any breathtaking performance to win the match against Lyon by 3-1. In fact, they almost went of at this stage, until the last 3 minutes of the game. 32yr old striker "Pippo" Inzaghi opened the scoring with a typical header. Predatory striking stuff from him. But 6minutes later, a Juninho freekick caused so much confusion to the Milan defence that Diarra of Lyon only had to head into an empty net. The scoreline stayed 1-1 all the way to the 86th minute. By that time, Lyon supporters were already celebrating, cos with the away-goal rule, Lyon has done enough to win the 2-legged tie. Sadly, AC shattered Lyon's dream with Inzaghi again providing the finishing touch in the 86th minute. Shevchenko's shot was parried away by Coupet but the rebound was met by Inzaghi n he only had a simple tap in to do. 2-1 the scoreline, Lyon was shell shocked. To add salt to the wound, Shevchenko put some gloss to the finish by pouncing on a defensive error to make the final scoreline 3-1 in the 92nd minute. 2 important goals in the last 6minutes of the game decided the eventual winners. Like what I've read in the papers today, the first goal left Lyon winded, the second left them wounded, n the third goal is certainly wicked! In another match, surprise package knocked out Inter Milan with a 1-0 scoreline. Having lost the match 2-1 in Italy last week, 1-0 was all Villareal needed because they had secured a precious away goal in the San Siro. The goal was provided by Rodolfo Arruabarrena in the 55th minute. The player latched on to Juan Roman Riquelme's free-kick to head home the only goal of the match. Inter's performance was well below par this morning. Mancini has no one to blame but himself. So, this little team from the La Liga is now through to the semi-finals. Hard to believe it? Well, they're really good as a team n with Juan Roman Riquelme producing the goods every game, this team will be hard to beat. It has been raining EVERY evening for the past week or so. Why huh? The day will start beautifully with the sun shining. Slowly, the huge dark cloud would creep in n cover the sun by noon, then, rain will starting falling by the late noon. I'm stepping on wet ground everyday when I go home. I hope it won't rain this coming weekend. Work was fine today n it wasn't as busy as yesterday. My cuts haven't heal n I was extra careful in handling the medicine strips today. Anymore of those cuts n it'll be hard for me to work efficiently. It's thursday tmr, time seems to be flying by. The car has been stagnant for 3 days now. I have nowhere to go. Ha.. I guess Dad will be back from Russia in the next few days. N yes, Zheng Rong is finally back from Thailand. He's gonna ORD next week!! Hoho.. I'm waiting for everyone to get out of the army, n we can all go for a massive CELEBRATION!! |
