My Dear Old Mates

Had dinner with Daniel n Zheng Rong juz now at Suntec. It was a belated birthday celebration for me, juz the 3 of us, the Three Musketeers. Had a great time talking about the past 8 yrs we've been friends. Can't stop laughing at what we did when we were younger. The funny actions, the childish stuff, everything. Haha, in fact, I think we're still as childish now. Boys will always be boys even when they become men. I guess god blessed me with 2 such great friends after knowing that I have no brothers.

I was traveling on the MRT train to Suntec with Zheng Rong, n we went past our old Temasek Secondary School building along Bedok South Road. Suddenly, we started talking about what actually happened during the 1yr 3months' time in that old building. We recalled where were the science labs, the art room, the classrooms n the canteen food. The recalling really brought back great memories. How we 1^st met n how we ended up as 3 great friends.

Haha, u know, I hated Zheng Rong initially. That was due to my lack of understanding on him. He has a very tough character, one that is damn hard to defeat. He wants to be the best, n the strongest. He may be hard on the outside, but he's soft as tofu on the inside. Upon knowing him better, I realised he's a superb buddy, one that will go all the way to help u. When I fell sick during a school history trip to Germany, he stayed up all night to boil water for me. When I had a bad bicycle accident during one of the Sea Sports Club gathering, he helped me on the first aid. Heck, to me, he's already considered as my brother.

Then there's Daniel. He's special, in a way that he's mixed blood. He's also pretty intelligent. Had he been more focused n less playful, he would have been a student with fantastic grades. Haha, both his parents n even his 2 older brothers are teachers. What else can I say? He's going to be a future maths teacher too. Daniel is the wacky one among the 3 of us, often making very funny jokes. Me & Zheng Rong will always taunt him into retaliation when we both bully him, but he will never do that cos when both of us combine forces, he's definitely going to die. Among the 3 of us, he has the most girlfriends ever, maybe it's due to his sweet tongue. Oh well, girls will always melt under sweet talking. That's a fact, girls out there, DON'T deny!

Back to the point of how we end up being best friends. It all started in the Science Lab in Sec1. Me n Daniel was sitting at the front most bench during science lessons. We will carry out the interesting science experiments together, n very often, try out other chemicals by mixing them n doing all sorts of "stunts". Both of us were having a great time n were always looking forward to science lessons where we can play.

Then suddenly, Zheng Rong started joining us at the front bench cos he can't click with the group of guys he was sitting with at the back of the lab. That was how it started. Everyday after school, we will run to the Bedok MRT station, sprint up n down the several flight of stairs while getting to the station's platform. Needless to say, Zheng Rong is always the winner for he's blessed with inhuman stamina, that explains why he's a high flying commando officer now. There is nothing that we can't talk about. If there's anything that hasn't changed in the last decade, it's definitely our friendship. How I wish Zheng Rong can come to NUS instead of NTU to join me n Daniel for our university education later this year. Life will be so different w/o him.

I saw another old friend today at City Hall. She's Peishan, the intelligent girl I’ve known since 13, also a school mate. She hasn't changed much. The only difference was the absence of her spectacles. Haha, contact lens rules!

Something funny happened today when the 3 of us were walking towards Suntec. We were on an escalator, going up an overhead bridge. Out of a sudden, the escalator came to a halt. I have no idea why it stopped. Luckily, both of my hands were holding onto the hand rail, the sudden halt didn’t quite affect me. The same couldn't be said for the young lady behind me. She was caught off guard n let out a short scream when it stopped. In the midst of her scream, she grabbed my hand. Sheesh, no other girl has ever grabbed my hand like that, except for my ex-gf. She was already blushing when I turned around to look at her. Haha.. She muz have felt damn embarrassed. Oh well, I have to admit my heart did skip a beat when she grabbed my hand. That feeling was so distant until today. Hai, I ended up thinking of her again.
