Saturday, December 31, 2005 So yep, today is the last day of the year 2005. Frankly speaking, I hate 2004 n 2005. It’s the worst 2 years I’ve had in my entire life. Army life during these 2 years certainly didn’t give me any good memories. Sometimes, I wonder how would my life be now, if I don’t have to serve my National Service. NS is the only bad thing for Singaporean males. 2 years of my life, spent running in jungles, dawning protective chemical suits n perfecting my shooting to be a lean mean killing machine during wartimes. However, I take pride in whatever I did in the Army, trying to do my best in my job. Surely, there were times when I was frustrated being stuck in a stupid army camp, but I know I have to protect my own land, my home. Okie, let’s look back at how my 2005 went. January 05—Started the year on a bad note. I was suffering from a bad rash. The doctor said it was scabies. My whole abdomen area looked like a war-zone. Things between me n her didn’t look so well. Quarreled pretty badly in Dec ’04 n there were scars emerging in our love. I turned 20, starting to feel old February 05—Quite a good month. Chinese New Year was spent with her n my family. I visited her family too. Bought her a very special gift for her birthday, which falls on the 2nd day of CNY. We went to my cousin’s wedding on 19th Feb. Everyone was teasing us, asking when is going to be our turn on the red carpet. I saved a Malay woman who fainted on the street. Called the ambulance for the 1st time of my life. March 05—I ended up in the hospital for the 2nd time in my life. Had very bad gastric flu n started having spasm. The ambulance came to send me to April 05—Dad turned 52. We quarreled again near the end of the month n a cold war between us started. I completed my Engineer Training Evaluation Programme, slack days are ahead of me, I was so happy, thinking I could spend more time with her. May 05—She left me abruptly. Citing my unavailability to her when she needed me most as the reason. I was devastated, made worse when I saw her with that FAILURE during one of the outings with my kayaking mates. June 05—I started blogging. Writing down my thoughts is one of the ways I relieve some pain from losing her. Suffered one of the highest fevers I ever had in my life. It was 39.8 degrees, I almost died in camp. My garang CSM finally left my company n got posted to another camp, better life w/o him around. Jessica is back from the July 05—Initial D fever hit me, n I’m still burning with it now. August 05—Kayak for the 1st time in MacRitchie n I fell in love with that place immediately. Attended the NDP actual. Rui-En walked past me, we were less than a metre apart. I visited NUS for the very 1st time, it’s a nice place. The new EPL season started n September 05—Injured my left knee during physical training in camp, but managed to get a Silver for IPPT with a heavily strapped left knee. Officially retired from the freaking guard duty. Gave my room a new coat of paint after 7 years. October 05—Dad went o November 05—Didn’t sleep for 2 whole nights straight, I was being tortured emotionally. Had a MRI scan on my left knee at TTSH, it was one of a kind of experience. Mum ordered a Nissan Sunny for me, when I haven’t even got my license yet! Drove for the 1st time in my life, I fell in love with the manual transmission of the car. Found out I had torn my left meniscus from the doctor, surgery beckons. December 05—Passed my Final Driving Theory Test on 1st try n finished my driving modules within 16 lessons. The Sunny was finally here, I was super excited. Had a knee surgery to fix my torn meniscus n is now on MC till 20th Jan 2006. I started sending roses to her again… Overall, I think the best things to have happened to me this year was New Year resolutions? I’m still thinking… |
