As some had known, my original PC has died somewhere in February. Due to financial constraints, I was unable to build a new one for myself. So i ended up using my laptop n borrowed Poh Siang's desktop PC temporary since he's got a new one. I scrapped through the 6 months n finally saved up enough for a new dual core PC for myself juz before the extra 2% GST hike. Heh Heh, i luv my new powerful PC..
So here's a crash course on how a desktop PC is actually built for those who are interested. It's quite easy actually , but mine will not be as detailed. Go Google it if u want more details.
Here's my 3yr old baby who died on me. SAD.......
The motherboard died on me, off i "ripped" it off the casing n sold the other parts that were still worthy to be sold as 2nd hand hardware
Good bye baby, it was being sold for S$5 to an engineer who wanted some spare parts
I suspect it was the cheapo power supply box dat killed my baby. I bought it a few months back when the original one was spoilt. This one above is the new one--more expensive, but more reliable. I sold the cheapo one for S$35

So here are the basic essential parts to build a PC.
From top left clockwise:
Casing
Graphics card
RAM module
Hardisk
Motherboard
Processor
Here's the motherboard, a spanking new technology using the AMD690G chipset
The back panel of the motherboard. It comes with DVI, S-Video, Sub-D n HDMI video output. No other boards have this feature
Here's the AMD64 dual core processor

The processor socket on the motherboard
Plugged into the socket
The four slots are RAM slots
The processor cooler fan

The RAM into the slot, with the processor fan plugged in, in the background
Getting the casing ready
The empty skeleton, i've screwed in the power supply unit
Everything mounted onto the casing

Hardisk
DVD-RW Drive
Additional cards--sound card, TV card, graphics card.

A total of 3 harddisk. I bought one in 1999, one in 2003, n a new one
All up n ready for a long run. May look a little messy due to the power cables for the individual units in the system.

Things I bought:-
Biostar TA690G Motherboard + AMD64 x2 3600+ Processor bundle...........$233
1GB Kingston RAM..................................................................................................$51
Asus Nvidia GeForce 6600GT Graphics card......................................................$70
Seagate 160GB SATA2 Hard Disk.........................................................................$75
CoolerMaster Extreme 430W PSU.......................................................................$50
Total: $479
Things I sold:
Motherboard...............$5
Processor.....................$65
512MB RAM...............$55
Graphics card..............$50
External sound card...$55
Power supply unit......$35
Total: $265
Total spent $214 for a new PC, quite worth isn't it? Well, dat's cos I reused some old parts. Now it's time to enjoy it!!
