Yeah, at last i set foot on IKEA Tampines one week after its official opening. It opened its doors last Thursday but due to my exams, I wasn't able to visit it until today. Perhaps it's a blessing in disguise as the situation was pretty chaotic during the first few days after its opening. I heard people queuing up for 45mins for the shuttle bus, severe difficulty in finding parking space as well as it was jampacked with human traffic so much so that it took some time for people to even enter n leave the mall.
I can imagine that. The IKEA store i went ystd is located at Alexandra, the other end of Singapore, and i can tell u the Eastern population is way higher than Western part of Singapore. People from Katong, Kallang, Eunos, Bedok, Pasir Ris, Simei, Marine Parade, Punggol, Seng Kang, Hougang and even Woodlands will visit IKEA Tampines cos it's so much nearer than the other branch. Mind u, these areas are heavily populated housing estates. Imagine all the people coming to a place at the same time, there's sure gonna be a major congestion. It'll be worse when Giant Supermarket n Courts Megastore opens within the next 3 weeks. I wonder who came up with such a great idea of combining these 3 stores in an area like Tampines. Haha.. Simply marvellous, Tampines can't get any better than this. If u're sick of shopping at Tampines Mall & Century Square, there's a free shuttle bus to bring u to the IKEA area, juz a short 10min ride. I guess u can well spend the whole day at Tampines n yet not finish walking all the malls.
