Wishing a speedy recovery for Alan Smith

Wishing a speedy recovery for Alan Smith

Heh, today is the 2nd day since I got my license. Drove a lot for the day. Noon, fetch mum from work, sent her to Simei, then Bedok to have her mahjong game. N then, I headed home myself. I never drove such a long distance by myself b4. Glad that I didn't lose my way.

Night, drove to S11 foodcourt with sis for dinner n watch the FA Cup match up between Liverpool n Manchester United. The Reds haven't won against Man Utd in the FA Cup for 85yrs, spanning all the way back to 1921. The match started well for Pool, showing some bright sparks in the midfield area. Then, half way through the 1st half, Harry Kewell almost scored with a back header, only to have Van Der Sar making a fantastic save to deny him. However, the resulting corner allowed Peter Crouch to score his 1st goal of year 2006. The ball missed everyone one that jumped for it, leaving the 2metre tall Crouch to head in the ball inside the 6yard box. Ironically, he had to bend his body to gain contact with the ball. The ball was beyond reach of Van Der Sar this time n it passed the goal line after hitting the inside of the post. Crouch ran away in celebration n the Anfield crowd went crazy.

The score stayed 1-0 all the way to full-time, with Manchester United showing very little threat in equalizing. Alan Smith was being introduced into the game in the 75th minute. Sadly, he had a mishap on the 90th minute. His attempt to block a Riise shot resulted in him suffering a horrific injury. The block caused him to break his left leg n dislocate his left ankle. Sheesh, that must have hurt like hell. It took quite a while for the medics to carry him off the pitch after immobilizing his entire left leg. The match re-started n 7 minutes of injury time was added. Smith’s injury didn't help in anyway. U can see clearly the Man Utd players lost their zeal to play after seeing such a horrific injury on their team mate.

I feel for Alan Smith. If not careful enough, his injury might even be career threatening. Hai.. I wish him a speedy recovery. How long will he be out of action is still unknown, but he's surely gonna be out for a long time. When Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse broke his leg in 2004, he took more than 6months to get back to the game. Alan Smith is a good player, he'll definitely be missed when he's out of action.

After the match, drove to Bedok again to fetch mum home from her mahjong game. One of my cousins hitched a ride from me. Luckily my ride didn't give them a heart attack. Haha.. I love driving, but I have to admit my manual transmission Nissan Sunny is a little hard to cope since I'm still quite unfamiliar with some roads. Taking care of the gear shifting n my directions really is a test of speed of coordination. I can finally control the clutch n accelerator better, n I'm able to make the engine "sing"! Haha, the Nissan power is not one to be meddled with.
